USC Sports Medicine features a multidisciplinary team of physicians dedicated to providing high quality and comprehensive care to the active patient, whether a weekend warrior or the elite level athlete. Our physician-directed program includes professionals from various disciplines whose focus is on the health of the athlete. Patients enjoy customized treatment plans and state-of-the-art facilities that feature the latest technology for diagnosing sports-related injuries, including South Carolina’s most powerful Extremity MRI.

What We Do

USC Sports Medicine Physicians

  • Treat all structures of the musculoskeletal system affected by athletic activity
  • Coordinate medical care with athletic team settings, including other health care professionals, such as athletic trainers, physical therapists and non-orthopaedic physicians
  • Conduct on-the-field evaluation and management of illnesses and injuries

USC Sports Medicine Physicians have knowledge of…

  • Soft tissue biomechanics, injury healing and repair
  • Treatment options, both surgical and non-surgical, as they relate to sports-specific injuries and competition
  • Principles and techniques of rehabilitation that enable the athlete to return to competition as quickly and safely as possible
  • Knowledge of athletic training equipment and orthopaedic devices (braces, foot orthoses, etc.) and their use in prevention and management of athletic injuries

USC Sports Medicine Physicians...

  • Include fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeons and primary care sports medicine physicians
  • Serve as the official team physicians for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and dozens of other universities, colleges, high schools and recreational teams throughout South Carolina
  • Work with a network of athletic trainers at high schools and colleges throughout South Carolina to coordinate the care for injured athletes
